U.S. to Strengthen Immigration Screening: New Security Center to Launch Soon
On May 12, 2025, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the creation of a new division responsible for enhanced review of visa applications and immigration benefit requests. The center, to be based in Atlanta, will focus on centralized secondary review of submitted petitions and applications.
According to the official announcement, the initiative is intended to strengthen the integrity of the U.S. immigration system and enhance the verification of applicant information. The new review center will utilize advanced analytical tools and technology to conduct more comprehensive assessments of the evidence and information submitted with petitions and applications.
The division will have the authority to conduct additional reviews of both newly filed cases and applications that are already pending. It will work in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security and other government agencies, helping to centralize and standardize security screening and verification procedures.
Although the statutory eligibility requirements for U.S. visa and immigration programs remain unchanged, the level of scrutiny applied to supporting documentation and the accuracy of submitted information is expected to increase. As a result, applicants may face more thorough reviews during the adjudication process.
